Net4Sud – Abstract of the project

"NET4SUD: Network for Twinning, Network for Sustainable Development" is a project approved and co-financed by the European Commission through the "Europe for Citizens 2007-2013" programme, Misure 1.2 "Network of Twinned Towns".

The project stems from the aim common to all the 4 participating cities to share experiences in some areas of common interest and to seek new opportunities for a unique sustainable development in Europe, giving chances to their citizens to participate in the process for building a Europe united in its diversity. “Net4Sud” also aims to start from the analysis of "what and how we have done" in each Town in areas such as Agriculture, SMEs, town-twinning, education and youth exchanges, to define "what and how we can do", knowing and learning to use the tools made available by the European Commission and its Programmes, during 2 years of activities (2009/2011). All this in order to improve better living conditions through the creation of initiatives that are innovative and accessible to all and which, starting from the enhancement of cultural and linguistic diversity of the participants, promote the planning for a future cooperation based on principles such European awareness, integration, experiences and values exchange. The project involves the creation of an "International Study Group", made of some young people from the 4 Towns, in order to analyze the EU Programmes and its call for proposal. This Group continues to work even after the end of the Project, on the basis of the Network Twinning Agreement.

Visibility to the project has been and will be assured by local campaigns, internet campaigns, newsletters, this website, press releases. The results will be disseminated also with additional communication tools, such as CD-ROMs and brochures.

The project "NET4SUD" has contributed a lot to the integration of the 4 communities partners.
As a result of this, it was developed a new project for young people, named "Y.E.S: Youth, Environment & Sport", co-financed by the "Youth in Action" programme as a bilateral youth exchange. The 2 promoters were "A.S.D.Virtus" (Italy) and "Sport Club Trzemeszno"  (Poland). The project lasted one week in september 2011 and has involved 20 young people (16-18 y.o.) from the two communities.

The project was based on 3 key words: 1) Youth (identification of personal needs and goals); 2) Environment (reflections about climate changes, biodiversity and renewable energies); 3) Sport (how to practice sustainable sport). The aim of this project was then, through a methodological approach based non formal learning, to let the young participants reflect about their way to be European active citizens, respecting the environment while practicing sustainable sport and outdoor activities for a healthy lifestyle.
